How To Get Rid Of Yeast Infections

By Keke Lexmarkton

Lets face it--yeast infections are not the easiest subjects to talk about, but they affect an overwhelming amount of women. Most people think that a yeast infection is simply a part of life, like a pimple or headache.

Simply put, there is hope for women with yeast infections, and there are natural ways that we can all cure and even help prevent yeast infections from happening again. Even if its hard to talk about, women need to know how to help themselves when a yeast infection shows up.

There's no sense in treating a yeast infection if a woman doesn't have one to begin with. The mot prominent indicator for a yeast infection is an itching or burning sensation around the vagina. Any urinary pain or redness at the sight are pretty good tells that a yeast infection has developed.

Sensitivity as a whole is a good indication, especially during intercourse. A woman may also have an infection if she notices an odor coming from her vagina. Almost any smell is a bad sign, so even if its not a yeast infection, the woman needs to be aware of it.

If you find out that you do in fact have a yeast infection, don't fret! You can relieve the infection with stuff you have around the house. The best thing to do is to coat the irritated areas with a layer of unsweetened yogurt. This may sound silly, but yogurt actually has some good bacteria in it that will kill the yeast. The sugar in sweetened yogurt actually makes the yeast spread further, so be sure to use only the unsweetened kind.

Yeast dislikes oxygen as much as it likes sugar, so allowing the infection to breath is a good way to kill it off. A woman should wear skirts or loose fitting clothing to let as much oxygen to the air as she can, even going naked if possible.

If you keep getting yeast infections year after year, its probably because you are lacking the bacteria in your diet needed to combat the infection. You can find supplements that have acidophilus and probiotics in them, which your body needs to fight the infection. Eating yogurt will help too, doing basically the same thing it does when applied directly to the yeast infection.

So as you can see, you can take simple but effective measures to quickly cure and prevent yeast infections. Make sure that you treat the infection at the first sign to get the fastest relief. Just follow the steps above, and you'll be well on your way back to vaginal comfort.
