7 Ways To Stop Bleeding Hemorrhoids

By James Briggs

Hemorrhoids are the result of inflamed veins in the rectum and anus. They can be uncomfortable, many times itchy, and extremely painful. Three fourths of Americans have suffered from hemorrhoids.

Generally, while uncomfortable, they are treatable before reaching a serious stage. However, occasionally the hemorrhoids will get worse and begin to bleed. After a BM is when this usually occurs. Outside the anus, hemorrhoids can form, which might bleed. Hemorrhoids can also occur inside the rectum, and while these generally don't feel painful, they still bleed.

However, there are methods to end the bleeding of hemorrhoids.

1)Ointments - Apply ointments or preparations for hemorrhoids. Most markets will sell these. It will help with shrinking the hemorrhoids and the ointment will also minimize the pain. The bleeding will stop if you do this.

2) Baths - Soak in a warm tub. 3 to 4 inches of lukewarm water is enough. To allow water to reach your anus, put your knees up. This will help the hemorrhoids to shrink and get your blood circulating.

3)Cleanliness " Keep the area around your anus and rectum clean. Frequently wash with soap and water. This is really important after a bowel movement. The area will be kept clean and infection free.

4) Fluids - It is critical to do all you can to prevent getting constipation. If you can drink eight glasses of water at a minimum daily, you will help your stools stay loose. Stools that are hard can make the hemorrhoids bleed, so this is an important factor.

5) Fiber - Fiber plays a vital role in stopping the bleeding that accompanies hemorrhoids. Your stools will be loose and bulky thanks to the fiber. This will help to keep you from becoming constipated. Dietary fiber may be obtained by consuming whole grains and plenty of veggies.

6) Ice - You can also place an icepack where it hurts. Use them for 15 to 20 minute intervals. This way the swelling goes down and in the process the hemorrhoids will also shrink. The bleeding from the hemorrhoids will be stopped by this.

7) Witch Hazel - Prior to the usage of Witch Hazel, the rectum and anal area must be cleaned well. Chill the bottle of Witch Hazel in ice. Put a little Witch Hazel on a ball of cotton and place it on the rectal area. This should reduce pain and help shrink the hemorrhoids which often stops the bleeding.

It is important to see a doctor whenever you notice blood in your stools, or on the toilet paper. But it is always important to remember that a lot of other serious problems apart from hemorrhoids can cause bleeding. Don't make the assumption that hemorrhoids are the cause. Whether to check further for rectal cancer or another issue, your doctor will make the decision.

If your doctor has determined that the hemorrhoids are causing the bleeding, and they are serious enough to warrant surgery, your doctor can decide and talk it over with you. Most often, bleeding hemorrhoids are treatable at home. If you apply the methods listed above, the bleeding should cease. And they will also help to control the hemorrhoids.
