Causes of Yeast Infections - The 5 Most Common Causes of Yeast Infections and How To Get Rid Of It

By Carole Bishop

So what causes yeast infections? There are many reasons why you may get a yeast infection but the 5 biggest causes we will discuss in this article, but before we look at them, did you know that natural and holistic remedies are far superior and more effective than the conventional antimycotics e.g. clotrimazole frequently prescribed by doctors?

The problem with conventional drugs is that they treat the symptoms of the infection and not the reasons or the root cause the ailment.

But what exactly is a yeast infection? It is simply a fungal infection caused by a fungus the most common species being Candida albicans.

This fungus tends to thrive in moist areas of the body like the vagina, the mouth and of course the penis.

It is an easily treatable condition but can become a recurring problem if not treated properly.

The most common symptoms of yeast infections include: redness, severe itching, discomfort, burning sensation, soreness, irritation, whitish or whitish gray cottage cheese like discharge with a curd like appearance.

Penile yeast infection symptoms include red patchy sores near the end of the penis or foreskin, itching and burning sensation

5 Most Common Causes of Yeast Infection include:

1. In women, using detergent and douches which disturbs the delicate balance of the vaginal flora. Once that balance is lost, fungus like candida finds it easy to grow and thrive.

2. Stress and steroids

3. Use of Oral contraceptives.

4. Continuous and persistent use of anti-bacterial antibiotics.

5. Diet also affects the occurrence of this infection.

We have touched on what a yeast infection is, what the mains symptoms are and the 5 main causes this disturbing affliction. I did mention that natural remedies are more effective at getting to the root of the problem, but it is impossible to discuss them in one article.
