Base Chakra

By Carrie Spry

Throughout our body, we have seven main chakras or energy centers. This article will be based on the first chakra, known as the Base or Root Chakra. This chakra is located between the anus and the genitals, around the base of the spine.

Being the first chakra, all other chakras get this power from this one. Our survival instincts and the earth are represented by the root chakra. Our primal erotic and procreational urges are governed by the Root Chakra. It is also the center of physical energy and related to our sense of grounding in the physical world. This chakra allows us to connect to earth energies and this enables us to empower our being.

Contained in this chakra are the 8 primary cells that have all the knowledge of creation. These cells remain the only cells in our bodies that do not change in our lifetimes. All issues around physical self-preservation, stability, acceptance, deep-rootedness, perception, fear, stillness, health, prosperity, and safety are governed by the Root chakra. It is the center for manifestations.

Each chakra can be in one of four stages. The worst stage is closed, this means that no energy is getting through. The chakra can then progress through under-active, and then even more to an open stage. Open is the desire stage for each chakra. If there is too much energy, the chakra can become over-active.

A closed or under-active Root chakra can act as follows, weak, lack of confidence, unable to achieve goals, non-existent sexual energy, suicidal, fear, insecurity, feel unloved. A core sense of unworthiness will result in a blocked root chakra as well as shame and self-doubt. People who have under-active Root chakras are often materialistic, controlling and have addictive personalities.

If you have an open Root chakra you will feel grounded, healthy, centered, and alive. You will have unlimited physical energy, have a great physical body, and ability to manifest abundance. You will love your life and your body.

An over-active Root chakra has the following characteristics, egoistic, domineering, greedy, sadistic, sexual energy entirely genital, judging, and usually has biased opinions. You can help tone done your root chakra by wearing the color green and taking the time to enjoy each moment.

Red and Black are the colors of this chakra. You can give the root chakra energy by wearing these colors. Others ways to balance this chakra are to use stones and essential oils. This chakra is developed early on in life from within the womb to about 1 year old. This chakra's enemy is fear and it's element is earth.
