By Denny Bodoh

Imagine how wonderful it would be to know how to prevent cold sores. You can - if you read this short article. In it is revealed a proven method to honestly prevent cold sores.

Many folks have found taking simple high quality nutritional supplements is all they need for preventing cold sore onset. You too can enjoy the same excellent results with very little effort.

Topical cold sore remedies are great for immediate relief, but to truly prevent cold sores you must use internal remedies.

About 90% of the population carries the herpes simplex virus - the virus that causes all cold sores.

Mostly the virus is hiding in the ganglia cells of your facial nerves. It only becomes active if it detects the conditions are favorable for making new virus.

When it all boils down, these are the three main conditions causing cold sore events.

1. An immune system that has been diminished by stress and lack of proper nutrition.

2. Your pH balance is no longer alkaline and has dropped into the acid zone.

3. High levels of the Arginine protein are present in your target area.

If you have heard that stress is the main trigger, it is true. But only because stress is a primary cause of conditions 1 and 2 above.

You can help to correct these effects of stress by seeing to it that you get optimum levels of vitamins and minerals every day.

But here are two important points I want you to be aware of.

A. Scientists have been shocked to find that produce today contains up to 70% less vitamins and minerals than in the 1950's.

Depletion of our soil is the culprit. This is considered part of the reason diseases of all kinds are becoming rampant today. That is why you need supplements.

B. Those one or two per day drug store vitamins are a waste of money. They do not provide you with the quantity or quality of nutrients you need.

Go to a place that specializes in high quality vitamins. Get the best you can afford.

The entire spectrum of vitamins are needed to prevent cold sores - A, B, C, D and E. Also the minerals calcium, magnesium and zinc.

For skin health, healing and protection, make sure you get plenty of the oil-based vitamins A, D, and E every day.

Vitamin C, and the entire family of the B's, are called the stress vitamins. They reduce how stress affects your body. These vitamins burn up quickly so take daily.

Zinc is the healing mineral and is powerful in prevention of cold sore infections. Take no more than 30 milligrams per day.

In addition there are topical cold sore remedies containing zinc sulfate (an easily absorbed form of zinc) you can use directly on the sore.

Calcium is an essential nutrient to prevent cold sores. It keeps your body alkaline and out of the acid zone. Calcium needs magnesium for best absorption.

When your body starts to become acidic, you are inviting disease of all sorts including cold sore outbreaks. Your tissue oxygen level drop with a drop in pH.

Calcium is so essential to your health that your system will even take it from your bones as a survival measure. Most people should get one to two grams per day.

Finally, get some Lysine. Any good cold sore prevention program must include lysine supplements.

Lysine will reduce or eliminate condition number 3 by keeping the Arginine away from the herpes virus. Flood your cells with Lysine and get rid of excessive Arginine.

If the cold sore virus cannot get enough Arginine, it will give up and go back into hiding.

Arginine is very common and can be found in most foods. A little is just fine. You can't avoid getting some Arginine in a healthy diet.

Lysine is also a common amino acid in most foods. However, for preventing cold sores, you need to get more. Most people take one or two 500 milligram Lysine capsules every day.

The internal methods mentioned above is the only way how to prevent cold sores in your life. Try it.

I wish I had time and space to tell you of other cold sore remedies that work very well. But, this internal method is the most important basic treatment for preventing cold sores for life.
