How is Sleep Apnea Related to IBS?

By Christian Goodman

I can't reinforce enough how valuable open and honest feedback is to my business and how important this communication is to the development of my programs.

Not long ago, I received an email from a client who purchased the Stop Snoring Program. It helped her mild apnea and snoring. In addition to that, she also found her irritable bowel syndrome problems had subsided dramatically.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) describes many problems affecting the gastro-intestinal tract. Certain foods can act as a trigger resulting in diarrhea or constipation. However, the root cause is believed to be stress and anxiety.

It is not unexpected that my Stop Snoring program would be effective on conditions caused or worsened by stress, since the programs have breathing and relaxation exercises. But this still leaves me wondering about the potential link between IBS and sleep disorders like sleep apnea.

When reviewing the symptoms associated with IBS, many people noted sleep disorders like snoring and sleep apnea. This is especially true for women.

It has been shown in recent studies that more than half of IBS patients also report symptoms of sleeping disorders.

In fact, some sufferers report that due to the IBS symptoms, they can't get a good night's sleep. IBS symptoms suddenly jolt them awake, disrupting the cycle of rest.

However, research indicates that the poor sleep patterns are causing the IBS symptoms to occur, not the IBS causing sleep issues.

A recent sleep study of IBS patients and control patients was performed. There were no reported differences in the amount time devoted to sleep or REM cycles.

This research did however reveal that for those suffering from sleep interruptions during REM state, morning IBS symptoms were present.

Those conducting the research believe that the lack of adequate rest and oxygen to the brain results in a variety of health problems including irritable bowel syndrome.

Like the client mentioned earlier in this article, it is very likely that my Stop Snoring program will benefit you if both IBS and sleep apnea are standing in the way of your good health. See the results right away for these conditions that are most likely linked.
